Directs Officials to Complete Construction Work on Anicuts with High Quality and Utmost Urgency

The State View Sunil Sharma                    Jaipur. On Monday, Sanjay Sharma, Minister of State for Forests and Environment (Independent Charge), inspected the anicuts currently under construction behind the Bhakheda and Bhurasiddh temples in Alwar city and issued necessary directives to the officials. Minister of State for Forests Sanjay Sharma instructed officials to pay special attention to quality during the construction of the anicuts and to ensure that the work is completed as expeditiously as possible. Furthermore, he directed them to accelerate the pace of work on other ongoing projects—including anicuts, *johads* (village ponds), and tanks—and to ensure their timely completion while maintaining high quality standards. He issued specific instructions to ensure that soil, debris, and waste do not accumulate within the anicuts; to this end, he directed officials to conduct effective monitoring and ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of the structures. He stated that the construction of anicuts and ponds—being undertaken by the Municipal Corporation at various locations across the city, such as Jarakhwala and Pratapbandh Johadi—is progressing with the specific objective of conserving rainwater and raising the city’s groundwater levels. The construction of these water structures is expected to boost water levels across a significant portion of the city, while also ensuring the availability of drinking water for wildlife, livestock, and birds.

The retention of water at these sites will create a moist environment in the surrounding areas; this, in turn, will foster lush greenery—including trees, plants, grasses, and shrubs—thereby ensuring the availability of fodder for cattle and wild animals.  Additionally, to address the drinking water crisis in Alwar city, projects such as the Siliserh Pipeline Scheme and the construction work on the Natni ka Bara–Jaisamand Canal are currently underway. He further stated that the Alwar district would also benefit from the ERCP and Chambal-Bharatpur schemes, which would provide a permanent solution to the district’s drinking water challenges. Furthermore, he appealed to the general public to install rainwater harvesting systems in their homes to conserve every drop of rainwater, thereby ensuring its effective utilization rather than letting it go to waste.
