Status of Handpumps and Chambal Project Assessed in Village Panhouri; Directives Issued to Immediately Disconnect Illegal Water Connections

In view of the rising summer temperatures, and with the objective of ensuring an uninterrupted supply of drinking water to the general public of the district—as well as verifying the ground-level reality of the handpump repair and leakage rectification campaign—District Collector Mayank Manish conducted a surprise inspection of various areas within the Deeg block on Saturday.
*Direct Interaction with Villagers to Gather Feedback*
During the inspection, the District Collector visited Village Panhouri, where he physically verified the functioning of a handpump installed near the local temple. While there, he personally interacted with the local villagers to establish a direct dialogue and sought their feedback regarding the drinking water arrangements. The villagers expressed their satisfaction with the smooth functioning of the handpump and the adequate availability of drinking water.
*Inspection of Chambal Project and Directives to Disconnect Illegal Connections*
Subsequently, the District Collector conducted a thorough inspection of the water supply being provided through the PSP scheme, which operates under the Chambal Drinking Water Project, within Village Panhouri itself. To ensure the water supply system remains streamlined and efficient, he directed the concerned officials to disconnect all illegal water connections. He emphasized that illegal connections lead to reduced water pressure, preventing water from reaching the tail-end areas of the distribution network; therefore, it is the department’s responsibility to ensure that the drinking water supply is managed in a completely smooth and transparent manner. The District Collector further directed all officials to establish mutual coordination and continuously monitor water distribution throughout the summer season. Present during the inspection were Superintending Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Ishu Narang, Executive Engineer Siddharth Chaudhary, Assistant Engineer Lokendra, and Junior Engineer Bhavna Meena.
