BJP and Congress Face Off in Didwana-Kuchaman;
BJP Mahila Morcha Protests
The State view Kuchaman City (Sonu Pareek) Following the failure of the Constitution Amendment Bill related to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam (Women’s Reservation Bill) to pass in the Lok Sabha, political tensions have escalated across the country. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has blamed the opposition, including the Indian National Congress, calling the development a setback to democracy and an insult to women.
In Didwana-Kuchaman district, BJP Mahila Morcha, led by Rajni Gawadiya, organized a press conference in Kuchaman City and launched a strong attack on opposition parties. Leaders alleged that Congress, All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), and Samajwadi Party (SP) collectively prevented the passage of the bill, which aims to provide 33% reservation for women.
During the press briefing, BJP leaders stated that the bill was not just legislation but a crucial step toward empowering half of the country’s population. They termed its blockage as injustice to women’s aspirations and criticized opposition parties for allegedly celebrating the outcome, calling it an insult to women’s sentiments.
The Mahila Morcha further claimed that women across the country are angered by the development and warned that this issue could influence upcoming elections. They asserted that women would respond democratically and not tolerate what they described as an “insult to women’s power.”
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Women Congress President Sarika Choudhary presented a contrasting view. She stated that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP are blaming Congress, the reality is different. According to her, Congress has always supported women’s reservation and advocates for its immediate implementation. She emphasized that Congress had earlier introduced reservation for women in Panchayati Raj institutions and continues to support its expansion to assemblies and Parliament. She also credited Sonia Gandhi for efforts toward passing the bill and reiterated that Congress wants it implemented at the earliest.
