Jaipur. The Jaipur Police is conducting a special campaign titled “Bigul: ‘No to Drugs – Wake Up Jaipur’” with the objective of protecting the younger generation from the adverse effects of substance abuse and making society drug-free.

Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal stated that while various laws have been enacted at both the national and state levels to prevent the trafficking, sale, and consumption of narcotics, it is absolutely essential to disseminate awareness through educational institutions to keep the youth completely away from drugs. It is the collective responsibility of us all to contribute to the progress of our families, society, and the nation by fostering a healthy and empowered younger generation.
**A Campaign Driven by Public Participation**
He emphasized that a comprehensive public awareness campaign would be conducted within educational institutions through the joint efforts of the police, educators, voluntary organizations, school management, and prominent citizens of society, thereby ensuring that the youth remain free from the clutches of drugs.

Under this campaign, active participation will be ensured across educational institutions in all districts falling under the Jaipur Commissionerate; this will involve raising awareness, collecting relevant data, and initiating legal action wherever deemed necessary.
**Focus on Societal Factors**
The increasing migration towards cities—driven by industrial development and employment opportunities—has led to a decline in social control. Furthermore, the rise of nuclear families and the busy schedules of parents have resulted in growing feelings of loneliness among the youth, making them susceptible to falling into bad company and being drawn towards substance abuse. In such a scenario, timely awareness is of paramount importance.
**Key Activities of the Campaign**
He outlined the key activities of the campaign, which include: educating school and college students about the adverse effects of drugs and the relevant legal provisions; organizing rallies, street plays, and pledge-taking ceremonies; enhancing public awareness through competitions involving essays, posters, painting, and photography; providing counseling to students and taking action against those involved in supplying drugs; ensuring a complete ban on the sale of narcotics in the vicinity of educational institutions; fostering greater participation from parents and teachers; organizing legal literacy programs; facilitating visits to de-addiction and rehabilitation centers; and, through coordination among the police, NGOs, and experts, guiding the youth away from substance abuse. Comprehensive efforts will be undertaken to keep them away from [substance abuse].

Through this campaign—and with the cooperation of the Jaipur Police, the Education Department, and all sections of society—an endeavor is being made to realize the vision of a healthy, safe, and crime-free society by shielding the youth from the adverse effects of substance abuse.
*Campaign Timeline and Action Plan*
This campaign, spearheaded by the Jaipur Police, will be launched in May, coinciding with the commencement of the academic session in educational institutions. Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal stated that, in the first phase, special operations will be conducted from May 10 to May 25, and a report regarding these activities is to be submitted to the Office of the Police Commissioner by May 26. Subsequently, the campaign will be conducted from the 1st to the 15th of every month, with provisions in place to ensure that the corresponding reports are transmitted via the Control Room by the 16th of each month.
