Electricity Theft Detected at 6 Brick Kilns in Kanota and Jamwaramgarh; Fine of ₹21.08 Lakhs Imposed

Jaipur. The Vigilance Wing of Jaipur Discom conducted an operation on Tuesday across the sub-divisional areas of Kanota and Jamwaramgarh. During this operation, instances of electricity theft were detected at six brick kilns. The team uncovered electricity theft—being committed by tapping cables directly from LT poles or transformer bushings—at four brick kilns located in the village of Dangarwada Khurd in Kanota; consequently, a fine of ₹14,31,612 was imposed on the concerned parties. Similarly, cases of electricity theft were also detected at one brick kiln each in Rupwas and Rahodi (Bassi), resulting in the imposition of a fine totaling ₹6,76,944.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Vigilance), Mahendra Kumar Sharma, stated that notices have been issued to the concerned individuals, directing them to deposit the fine amounts. Legal cases will be registered at the Anti-Electricity Theft Police Station against any consumers or non-consumers who fail to deposit the fine within the stipulated timeframe. He further informed that the operation was initiated following the receipt of complaints regarding electricity theft at brick kilns, prompting an investigation led by Assistant Engineer (Vigilance), Upasana Singh. This crackdown on electricity theft is set to continue in the future.
