Over 61.15 lakh children administered anti-polio drops across 59,217 booths

Jaipur. Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary (Medical and Health), stated on Sunday that on June 28—the inaugural day of the National Pulse Polio Campaign—more than 61.15 lakh children across the state were administered anti-polio drops at 59,217 booths. The campaign will continue until June 30. A target has been set to administer Pulse Polio drops to over 1.04 crore children in the state. Over the next two days, teams will conduct door-to-door visits to administer the drops, ensuring that no child misses out on the medication. She noted that 75,232 teams have been constituted to administer the anti-polio drops to children up to five years of age; this includes 7,011 transit teams and 9,004 mobile teams. More than 1.38 lakh health workers and personnel from other departments are actively participating in the campaign. Rathore further mentioned that on the first day, polio drops were administered to children at booths established in both urban and rural areas. Trained health workers, ANMs, ASHA Sahyoginis, and Anganwadi workers have been deployed for the campaign. Dr. Jogaram, Mission Director of the National Health Mission, stated that mobile and transit teams deployed for the campaign are administering the medicine to children passing through bus stands, railway stations, national highways, and other transit points. The campaign also covers children up to five years of age belonging to nomadic tribal settlements and families of brick kiln workers, as well as children in remote areas. He added that to ensure the campaign’s successful execution, vaccinators and monitors have been arranged with the support of the Medical Department, ICDS, the Ayurveda Department, social workers, and other departments.
