Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma participated in a meeting regarding the Yamuna Water Project in New Delhi on Tuesday, alongside Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Various aspects related to the project’s implementation were discussed in detail, and the key points of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) were finalized. Additionally, matters concerning the Kishau Dam Project were also deliberated upon.
Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil stated that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, significant steps are being taken towards better water resource management by fostering coordination among states, driven by the spirit that “Water means a future” (*Jal hai toh kal hai*). In this context, the Yamuna Water Project is being advanced with an effective and long-term perspective. He noted that the project proposes transporting water via pipelines rather than traditional canal systems; this approach ensures water conservation while making the distribution system more extensive.
*Rajasthan, Delhi, and Haryana to receive water from the Kishau Dam Project*
He mentioned that issues involving the six states associated with the Kishau Dam Project have been resolved, and the relevant MoA will be signed soon. This will benefit Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, and other states. He expressed confidence that these efforts would pave the way for resolving water-related challenges in the future. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma stated that the Yamuna Water Project is of immense importance to Rajasthan, particularly the Shekhawati region. This project will prove pivotal for the region’s socio-economic development and for improving the standard of living for lakhs of people. He affirmed that the state government is committed to implementing the project on the ground as soon as possible, with the cooperation of the Central and Haryana governments.
He noted that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, long-pending projects are gaining momentum, and positive resolutions to water-related issues between states are being achieved. The demand for providing Yamuna water to Rajasthan had been raised for a long time, and concrete progress is now being made in this direction.
*Farmers, industries, and the general public to benefit significantly*
The Chief Minister stated that the implementation of the Yamuna Water Project would soon enable Rajasthan to receive its share of water, bringing substantial benefits to farmers, industries, and the general public. Furthermore, it will strengthen water management in the state and assist in realizing the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ (Developed India 2047).

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated that state governments are working with commitment, under the Prime Minister’s guidance, to ensure access to water for every individual. In this context, the water obtained from the implementation of the Renuka, Lakhwar, and Kishau projects will benefit the people of Rajasthan and Delhi, as well as those in Haryana. Discussions were also held regarding the conservation and transport of rainwater to Rajasthan.Senior officials from the Central Government, Rajasthan’s Water Resources Department, and the Haryana Government were present at the meeting.
