Baytu MLA Harish Chaudhary Highlights Key Issues—Health Services, Jal Jeevan Mission, Agriculture, and Public Welfare—at DISHA Meeting

At the meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA), Baytu MLA and former minister Harish Chaudhary prominently raised various public interest issues concerning the region and demanded accountability from officials.
During the meeting, MLA Harish Chaudhary raised the issue of health services not commencing at the Baytu Sub-District Hospital despite the completion of the building’s construction. He questioned the Chief Medical and Health Officer as to why the general public was not reaping the benefits when the hospital building was ready. Upon receiving an unsatisfactory response, Chaudhary stated that the Health Department could not shirk its responsibilities, emphasizing that providing better healthcare facilities to the public is the department’s primary duty.
He also expressed displeasure over the delay in constructing residential quarters sanctioned for doctors and staff within the hospital complex, noting that keeping the work pending despite having the necessary approvals was inappropriate. He directed officials to take prompt action and pave the way for the smooth operation of health services.
Chaudhary also registered a strong objection regarding a matter concerning the Girab CHC (Community Health Centre). He remarked that reinstating an employee at the same location—following disciplinary action—solely at the behest of a specific individual undermines administrative accountability and the sense of discipline. He stressed the need to maintain transparency and impartiality in departmental decisions.
While reviewing the Jal Jeevan Mission, Chaudhary stated that for the scheme to succeed in a vast and remote region like Barmer, all public representatives, administrative officials, and concerned departments must work collectively. He emphasized the necessity of formulating a concrete action plan and ensuring its effective implementation to provide drinking water, particularly to remote *dhanis* (scattered rural settlements).
Harish Chaudhary asserted that the objective of development schemes should not merely be to spend the budget but to deliver tangible benefits to the general public. He urged officials to resolve public interest matters on a priority basis and to ensure quality, transparency, and accountability in development works. He stated that he would continue to raise his voice for the resolution of public grievances and the overall development of the region, and that no negligence regarding issues of public interest would be tolerated.
