Jaipur: The Vigilance Wing of Jaipur Discom detected 14 cases of electricity theft and unauthorized use of electricity in the Purana Ghat, Dudu, and Bagru areas on Wednesday. Penalties totaling over ₹23 lakh have been imposed in these cases.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Vigilance) Mahendra Kumar Sharma stated that a vigilance team, led by Executive Engineer (Vigilance) K.C. Gupta, detected electricity theft at a fast-food shop near JNU Hospital in the Purana Ghat area. Electricity was also being used for an adjoining hostel; a penalty of ₹1.15 lakh was imposed for this violation. In Momina Nagar (Khoh-Nagorian), electricity theft was found at two water tanker supply units and two residences, resulting in penalties totaling approximately ₹5.78 lakh. In New Green City on Agra Road, a case of electricity misuse was registered (VCR issued) because power from domestic and agricultural connections was being used to run a school; a penalty of approximately ₹52,000 was imposed. A penalty of ₹68,000 was levied after electricity misuse was detected at an electric vehicle shop in Achrol. Additionally, a penalty of ₹1.16 lakh was imposed for electricity theft at a residential complex in Jaysinghpura Khor.

Meanwhile, an inspection team led by Assistant Engineer (Vigilance) Yashpal Aasiwal detected electricity theft at two hotels in Mokhampur village, Dudu. At one hotel, theft was being committed by tapping into the input service line of the LT meter, while at the other, power was being stolen by hooking onto the LT bushing of a single-phase transformer. Penalties of ₹5.45 lakh and ₹2.52 lakh have been imposed in these instances, respectively. A fine of ₹2.69 lakh was imposed for electricity theft at a factory under construction in the Bagru area, under the supervision of Assistant Engineer (Vigilance-DD II) Nishi Kumari. Additionally, a fine of ₹3.10 lakh has been levied for electricity theft at two residential premises in the area.
