DGP says, “Strengthen communication system to curb cybercrime”

Jaipur. An important review meeting of the Cyber Crime Branch was held at Police Headquarters on Thursday under the chairmanship of Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma. The meeting discussed in detail the prevention of cybercrimes, prompt action, and providing prompt assistance to victims. For quick action, instructions were given to further strengthen the existing communication system, including the cybercrime helpline, to provide immediate relief to victims.
During the meeting, DGP Sharma stated that to effectively curb cybercrimes, the existing system should begin working more proactively and effectively, along the lines of the I4C (Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre). He directed the I4C to establish SOPs and points for monthly review, as well as to prepare proposals for requirements such as equipment and human resources.
*Run awareness programs*
Reviewing the awareness programs conducted last year, DGP Sharma said that strict action should be taken against cybercriminals by making better use of technical resources. He also directed that various campaigns be conducted every other month to increase public awareness about cybercrime.

The DGP directed the strengthening of the helpline number 1930 to provide immediate relief to victims of cybercrime. He ordered the number of lines on the helpline number 1930 operated at the Police Headquarters to be increased from 11 to 17 with immediate effect, and also suggested further expansion as needed to ensure timely assistance to victims.
At the meeting, DG Sanjay Agarwal, ADG V.K. Singh, DIGs Kunwar Rashtradeep and Vikas Sharma, along with other senior officers, also presented important suggestions to make the prevention and investigation process of cybercrime more effective.
During this, DIG Shantanu Singh gave a detailed presentation on various branches operating under the Cyber Crime Unit, their working methodology and the achievements so far.
