Clean air, pure water, and robust sewerage systems should be prioritized for the overall development of cities: Harish Chaudhary

Jaipur. Former Cabinet Minister and Baytu MLA Harish Chaudhary, while speaking during the discussion on the Rajasthan Municipal (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Rajasthan Assembly today, said that while formulating policies for urban development, it is essential to first understand the real needs of cities today. He said that today our cities are demanding clean air, pure water, and a better environment, but unfortunately, we are not able to ensure even the basic amenities of life for our next generation. He also said that for the proper development of cities, concrete and visionary decisions need to be taken towards developing parks, gardens, and green zones, so that urban life can become more healthy and balanced. He also expressed concern that basic issues like providing clean air and clean drinking water to cities are not being given the required serious attention.
Chaudhary said that a strong sewerage system is the basic foundation for the development of any city, but currently the condition of sewerage in most of the cities is worrisome. He said that despite spending thousands of crores of rupees in this sector, the desired results are not being achieved, which makes it necessary for the House to seriously consider the priorities of these schemes and transparency in their implementation. He urged the House to take concrete policy decisions by prioritizing the basic needs of the cities, so that the cities can be prevented from going from bad to worse and better urban life can be provided to the citizens.
