In line with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s visionary approach and commitment to making tourism a strong pillar of the state’s economy, extensive facility expansion work for tourists is progressing rapidly at Amer Fort, selected as a “One District, One Tourist Destination” under the Panch Gaurav Yojana. Under the direction of District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni, the Jaipur District Administration is coordinating with the Tourism Department and related agencies to strengthen and modernize the infrastructure at Amer Fort, ensuring a world-class experience for both domestic and foreign tourists.
Additional District Collector Vinita Singh stated that Amer Fort is a proud symbol of the state’s historical and cultural heritage, visited by millions of tourists annually. Prioritizing tourist convenience and heritage preservation, the state government has approved an amount of ₹89 lakh under the Panch Gaurav Yojana, which is being used for various development projects. For the convenience of female tourists, baby feeding rooms are being constructed in Mansingh Palace and Diwan-e-Aam. Arrangements are being made for the regular operation of the fountains and culverts in Dalaram Bagh and Ram Bagh, enhancing the beauty and attractiveness of the complex.
Chief Planning Officer Dr. Sudip Kumawat stated that a large water tank is being constructed near Madho Singh Than to streamline and conserve drinking water supply. This will ensure uninterrupted water supply throughout the palace complex and protect the historic structure from leakage and seepage. To encourage night tourism, soft lighting is being developed at Sukh Niwas and Mansingh Palace, allowing tourists to enjoy the fort’s grandeur even in the evening. Amer is also being established as an attractive tourist and destination wedding destination by developing a sunset point and a couple wedding photo site. Special attention is also being paid to publicity, branding, and marketing activities to promote tourism.
He informed that the budget 2026-27 presented by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma includes a provision of ₹50 crore for the development of world-class facilities such as a digital museum, modern signage, advanced lighting, and well-organized parking in Amer Fort and the entire Amer town, which will further strengthen Amer’s identity on the international tourism map.
Dr. Sudip Kumawat informed that District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni has directed that all work be completed in accordance with the standards of quality, timeliness, and heritage conservation. He said that the overall development of Amer Fort will not only increase tourism revenue but will also provide a new impetus to employment generation, handicrafts, guide services, transportation and other tourism-based economic activities at the local level. Through the Panch Gaurav Yojana, the historical heritage of Jaipur district is being preserved, promoted and developed with modern facilities, which will prove to be an important and far-reaching initiative towards taking the tourism sector of the state to new heights.
