Rajasthan Police Holds State-Level Online Public Dialogue on Sardar Patel’s 150th Birth Anniversary

Discussion held on the topic of National Unity and Public Cooperation in Police Work

As part of the biennial series of national programs organized on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, the Rajasthan Police organized a state-level online public dialogue program on Thursday with community policing components, police officers, police friends, CLG members, security volunteers, and village guards on the topic of “National Unity and Public Cooperation in Police Work.”
Addressing the program, Director General of Police, Rajasthan, Rajiv Sharma said that the idea of national unity propounded by Sardar Patel is still the cornerstone of the Indian police system. He said that the Rajasthan Police is continuously strengthening trust, participation, and cooperation between the police and the general public through community policing. Currently, 2,44,899 community policing components are actively working in the state, playing a significant role in maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and promoting social harmony.

*Public Cooperation in Law and Order and Traffic Management*

Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, V.K. Singh, said in his address that community policing components can actively participate in coordination with the police during events such as fairs, festivals, processions, demonstrations, and protests, thereby ensuring peace, discipline, and a harmonious environment.  Additional Director General of Police, Traffic, B.L. Meena, said that citizens can cooperate with the police through community policing in following traffic rules, raising public awareness, conducting road safety campaigns, and managing traffic, which can effectively reduce road accidents.

*Women’s Safety and Social Concerns*

Additional Director General of Police, Civil Rights, Human Rights and Community Policing, Lata Manoj Kumar, said that through community policing, effective work can be done on issues such as law and order, women’s safety, child protection, de-addiction, and cyber awareness by establishing dialogue at public meetings, village assemblies, and community forums.  He said that the partnership between the police and the public is the key to a safe and empowered society.  In this context, IG Personnel, Mrs. S. Parimala, emphasized women and child safety, stating that active community participation can prevent crimes against women and children, and that community policing is proving to be an effective means in this direction.

*Cyber Security and Digital Innovation*

Emphasizing technological awareness, IG SCRB Ajay Pal Lamba and DIG Cyber Crime Mr. Vikas Sharma shared the utility of the RajCop Citizen App. They provided detailed information on the increasing trends of cybercrimes and the “Do’s and Don’ts” to avoid them. They explained how vigilance and correct digital information can prevent ordinary citizens from becoming victims of cyber fraud.

*2.45 Lakh Community Policing Volunteers Taking Charge of Security*

In Rajasthan, public participation through community policing has given new strength to the security system.  Approximately 2.45 lakh community policing volunteers across the state, including Police Friends, CLGs, Village Guards, and Security Sisters, are working shoulder-to-shoulder with the police, playing a crucial role in maintaining law and order, crime prevention, social harmony, and public awareness. This collaboration is building a bridge of trust between the police and the public, leading the state towards a safer and more empowered future.

*Pledge for National Unity*

From the beginning to the end of the program, ASP Sunita Meena, with her engaging communication style, kept police officers, youth groups, and women’s organizations from across the state connected. She highlighted the importance of community policing, invited speakers, and kept the discussion focused on the core objective of national unity. Police officers, youth, and women’s groups from across the state participated in the program online. At the conclusion of the program, all participants paid tribute to Sardar Patel and took a collective pledge to maintain the unity, peace, and social harmony of the country.
