Public Participation Essential for the Conservation, Promotion, and Development of ‘Panch-Gaurav’: Sandesh Nayak

Jaipur. A district-level review meeting regarding the conservation, promotion, and holistic development of the identified ‘Panch-Gaurav’ (Five Glories) sites in Jaipur district was held on Tuesday at the Collectorate Auditorium, presided over by District Collector Sandesh Nayak. The District Collector stated that ‘Panch-Gaurav’ is not merely a scheme for heritage conservation; rather, it serves as a powerful medium for preserving local identity and cultural pride, and for connecting future generations with their heritage. He emphasized that the active participation of the administration, educational institutions, and every section of society is essential for its conservation and development. With the objective of disseminating the significance, utility, and necessity of ‘Panch-Gaurav’ to the masses, he issued directives for its extensive publicity across all government offices, public and private schools, and educational institutions. This initiative aims to foster a sense of awareness and a spirit of conservation regarding cultural, historical, and social heritage among the youth, students, and the general public.
District Collector Sandesh Nayak also directed the District Sports Officer to identify and train players and coaches in every village across the district to promote the development of Kabaddi—designated as the district’s ‘One District, One Sport’ initiative. Furthermore, he instructed the concerned officials to construct indoor stadiums at the block level to further boost the sport of Kabaddi. He also issued directives to officials from the Tourism Department to ensure the development of Amer Fort—a site holding a prominent position in the realm of global tourism—and to guarantee the provision of excellent amenities for tourists visiting the site. Specifically, he issued instructions to improve sanitation within Amer Fort, construct toilet facilities, install CCTV cameras to enhance tourist safety, erect appropriate signage, and clear away overgrown bushes and vegetation along the pathways. He has directed the concerned department to undertake extensive publicity regarding the “One District, One Produce” initiative—specifically *Amla* (Indian Gooseberry)—in order to apprise the general public of its various Ayurvedic properties. Furthermore, he has instructed officials of the relevant department to utilize publicity channels to educate the public about the “One District, One Flora” initiative—specifically *Lisoda* (Indian Cherry)—covering both the distribution of its saplings and its multifaceted utility. The District Collector has also called for the organization of various programs—such as workshops, seminars, and national-level educational tours—to foster the development of the “One District, One Product” category focused on Gems and Jewelry.
Chief Organizing Officer Dr. Sudeep Kumawat stated that stalls dedicated to “Panch-Gaurav” (Five Glories) will be set up at various programs, fairs, and public events; here, the general public will be provided with information regarding these five heritage sites, the imperative need for their conservation, and the rich cultural heritage associated with them.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the concerned departments, including Additional District Collector (I) Vinita Singh, V. Ketan Kumar, Joint Director of the Statistics Department Babulal Meena, Deputy Director of the Horticulture Department Harlal Bijarniya, District Sports Officer Man Singh, and Tourism Officer Babulal Meena.
