*Planned Urban Development to Transform the Face of Cities
Emphasis on Transparency, E-Governance, and Strengthening Basic Amenities

Alok Gupta, a senior officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), assumed charge as the Additional Chief Secretary for Urban Development and Housing (UDH) on Monday. After taking charge, he stated that his foremost priority would be to ensure planned and balanced development in the state’s cities, in alignment with the State Government’s vision.
He emphasized that urban development initiatives would be advanced through an integrated approach, ensuring the coordinated development of housing, basic amenities, and urban infrastructure. E-governance will be further strengthened by promoting transparency, accountability, and the utilization of modern technologies within urban local bodies.
Alok Gupta affirmed that providing superior civic amenities to the general public is the primary responsibility of the UDH. To this end, fundamental services—such as sanitation, sewerage, drainage, and urban transport—will be bolstered to render cities more organized, clean, and livable.
He stated that inter-departmental coordination would be made more effective to ensure the timely and high-quality completion of all projects. Furthermore, development works will be accelerated while prioritizing suggestions received from public representatives and citizens.
He called upon the officers and employees to discharge their duties with a spirit of teamwork, dedication, and commitment.
Present at the meeting were JDA Commissioner Siddharth Mahajan, Housing Commissioner Dr. Rashmi Sharma, JDA Secretary Nishant Jain, UDH Deputy Secretaries Ravi Vijay, Rakesh Gupta, and Rashtradeep Yadav, Board Secretary Gopal Singh, Chief Engineers Tejveer Singh Meena, Amit Agarwal, and Prateek Srivastava, along with JDA Director of Engineering Devendra Gupta and other senior officials.
