*Agriculture Department Takes Major Action Against Urea Diversion Following Strict Instructions from Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena*

On Saturday, following the instructions of Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirodi Lal, a team from the Agriculture Department raided the Muhana Mandi area of Sanganer and seized a large quantity of illegal urea. Subsidized agricultural urea was being used industrially to make DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) for diesel vehicles. In Hawalon Ki Dhani, Muhana village, 1,104 bags of subsidized urea were seized from Dinesh, son of Radheshyam Sharma, Muhana village, and handed over to the Village Service Cooperative Society, Muhana. Fifty urea bags were seized from ABI Petrocine Company in Kapurwala and handed over to the Village Service Cooperative Society, Kapurwala.
Three separate teams from the Agriculture Department conducted raids, confiscated urea, and collected samples. HURL Company’s 1,154 filled bags of urea and 821 empty bags were seized from the spot.
Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirodi Lal stated that each bag of urea seized is worth ₹2,189.50, with a government subsidy of ₹1,923, and is supplied to farmers for ₹266.50. This case involves urea diversion, where industrial use of subsidized urea is prohibited and is a punishable offense under Section 25 of the Fertilizer Control Order 1985. Non-subsidized technical grade urea can be used for industrial use.
The Agriculture Minister stated that a thorough inspection campaign will soon be launched at the state level to prevent the misuse of subsidized urea in factories such as DEF, color paint, plywood, and feed.
