Power supply to farmers in Neem Ka Thana for agricultural purposes in two blocks a day – Minister of State for Energy

The State View, Jaipur Sunil Sharma
State Minister for Energy, Hiralal Nagar, stated in the Assembly on Wednesday that uninterrupted power supply has been restored in the Neem Ka Thana Assembly constituency by replacing a faulty 160 MVA transformer and installing a new, higher-capacity 200 MVA transformer. Currently, farmers are receiving electricity for six hours each in two blocks a day, as before.

He stated that on December 12, 2025, a technical fault occurred in the 160 MVA power transformer installed at the 400 kV grid substation Babai. This disrupted regular power supply for agricultural and domestic use in a portion of the Neem Ka Thana Assembly constituency. Until a permanent solution is found, the department has ensured power supply for six hours each in day and night blocks by diverting the transformer to another location for agricultural purposes.

The Minister of State for Energy was responding to supplementary questions posed by MLA Suresh Modi during Question Hour. He explained that in the event of a technical fault in a transmission system transformer, the department ensures power supply through alternative means until a permanent solution is found.

He explained that the department mandates replacement of faulty agricultural and domestic transformers within 72 hours. This rule does not apply to high-capacity transformers in the transmission system, as they take longer to replace.

Earlier, in a written response to MLA Modi’s original question, the Minister of State for Energy stated that farmers in the Neem Ka Thana Assembly constituency have been receiving electricity in two daily blocks since July 2025.

He stated that a 1.5 MW solar power plant has been installed under Kusum Component-A to provide daytime electricity to farmers in the Neem Ka Thana Assembly constituency. It is proposed to install one 0.5 MW solar power plant under Kusum Component-A and 11 solar power plants under Kusum Component-C, totaling a capacity of 26.98 MW.

Minister Nagar stated that regular agricultural and domestic power supply was provided in the Neem Ka Thana Assembly constituency from November 2025 to December 11, 2025. Due to a technical fault in the transformer on December 12, 2025, regular power supply for agricultural and domestic use was disrupted in a portion of the Assembly constituency. Subsequently, on February 20, 2026, a new transformer was installed to replace the faulty transformer and electricity supply to farmers and domestic consumers was restored on February 22, 2026.
