Two-Day Forest Fair Held at Secretariat Nursery, Jaipur Successfully Concluded
The State View Jaipur (Sunil Sharma) The two-day State-Level Forest Fair, organized by the Forest Department, Rajasthan, from February 9th to 10th at Secretariat Nursery, Jaipur, concluded successfully on Monday.
Shikha Mehra, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Development), Ramkaran Khairwa, Chief Conservator of Forests, Jaipur, DCF Jaipur (North), DCF Jaipur, DCF Sikar, DCF Forest Enhancement, and several senior officials of the department were present at the closing ceremony.
During the fair, senior department officials, including District Collector Jaipur Jitendra Kumar Soni, State Wildlife Board Member Namrata Bharti, and other dignitaries, visited various stalls and encouraged the participants.
The State-Level Forest Fair witnessed enthusiastic participation from the public, with over 12,500 visitors attending the fair. This significant attendance reflects the growing awareness in society about nature conservation, forest wealth, and rural livelihoods.
A total of 52 stalls displayed and sold various forest-based and local products at the fair. These included herbs, herbal products, pickles, biscuits, jute bags, vermicompost, amla products, spices, incense sticks, honey, jamun products, gum, panchkuta, millets, medicinal products, souvenirs, bows and arrows, seeds, aloe vera products, caps, t-shirts, jackets, laddus, and wooden toys. The strong sales of these products provided economic support to self-help groups, local artisans, and rural entrepreneurs.
Various informative and technical sessions were also organized during the fair, in which experts shared their experiences and useful information. Deep Narayan Pandey (former HOF, Rajasthan Forest Department) highlighted the importance of medicinal plants.
Satyanarayan Choudhary provided information on Lasoda propagation technology and related products. Devendra Bhardwaj shared his thoughts on the importance of forest medicines, Rishita Singh Charan on the production of cow dung cakes, Mahipal Singh Sisodiya on the concept of forest wealth conservation, and Ashok Sharma on the nutritional value and importance of millets and coarse grains. These sessions provided Forest Department personnel, youth, and the general public with new direction and inspiration in the areas of self-employment, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development.
The State-Level Forest Fair was not just a commercial event, but an important celebration that strengthened forest product promotion, biodiversity conservation, environmental awareness, and public participation. The Forest Department will continue to promote local livelihood promotion and public awareness through similar events in the future.
At the closing ceremony, the department expressed gratitude to all stall holders, experts, self-help groups, officers, and employees for their cooperation and honored them with prizes.
