Over 92,000 kg of Non-Iodized Salt Seized

Under the initiative of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and the direction of Medical Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar, a continuous campaign against adulteration is being conducted across the state. As part of this campaign, “Pure Food – Action Against Adulteration,” over 92,000 kg of salt lacking iodine was seized on Friday.
Food Safety Commissioner Dr. T. Shubhamangala stated that under the “Pure Food – Action Against Adulteration” campaign, a central team of food safety officers, led by Additional Commissioner Bhagwat Singh, took action against M/s Kasturi Camfood Pvt. Ltd., a salt factory located in Nava City, on Friday. Approximately 92,500 kg of salt, marketed under the brand name Titu, was found on the premises. An iodine spot test kit revealed that the salt did not contain iodine.
The firm’s owner, Rahul Kala, also admitted that the salt was not iodized. A sample of the salt was taken from the site under the FSS Act. Approximately 92,500 kg of salt was seized on the spot. Further action will be taken as per rules after receiving the test report.
