Chief Secretary V. Srinivas said that the central and state governments are working together to establish Rajasthan as a major textile manufacturing and export hub at the national level. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the state government has implemented the Rajasthan Textile and Apparel Policy-2025 to encourage investment in this sector. This policy includes the garment manufacturing sector for the first time in the state to encourage exporters. From increasing natural and synthetic fiber production to related sectors such as technical textiles and textile manufacturing, handloom, wool processing, leather products, and footwear, the policy also covers the textile and apparel sector.  To encourage industries in Rajasthan, several other provisions have been made, including asset creation incentives of up to ₹80 crore annually for 10 years.

Chief Secretary V. Srinivas was chairing a meeting on “Textiles in Rajasthan” at the Government Secretariat on Friday. He stated that Bhilwara is the textile hub of Rajasthan. Under the Rajasthan One District One Product Policy, products from Bhilwara, Balotra, Kota, Pali, and Barmer districts are being promoted.

Textiles Ministry Secretary Neelam Shami Rao stated that Rajasthan has immense potential for new-age fibers. Milkweed is abundant in the state, and the fiber obtained from this plant can be used in the textile industry. This initiative can lead to the development of new products and will also promote innovation in the industry. She also stated that the central government is actively working towards innovations in the textile sector, including new-age fibers.

Over 1,800 textile and apparel units in the state

Shikhar Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, stated that the state government is providing skill training, improved infrastructure, and financial assistance to strengthen artisans and the textile sector. This will empower micro, small, medium, and large industries in the region and create new employment opportunities. Modern technology and production methods are being continuously promoted in the textile sector in Rajasthan. Work is underway to develop a roadmap for the sustainable development and global competitiveness of Rajasthan’s textile industry. Currently, over 1,800 textile and apparel units are operating in the state. Exports from the state’s textile sector are projected to increase to approximately ₹13,500 crore in 2024-25.
