Discussions held on creating a safe and fear-free environment for women

In compliance with government directives, a district-level seminar was organized on Friday at the Jaipur District Collectorate Auditorium under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Fortnight. The objective of this special program, organized by the district administration, was to raise awareness about the POSH Act to ensure the respect, safety, and dignity of women in the workplace.
In the seminar, Deputy Director, Women Empowerment Department, Dr. Rajesh Dogiwal, provided detailed information about the need for the POSH Act, its historical perspective, and legal provisions. He explained that the primary objective of the POSH Act is to provide a safe, respectful, and fear-free environment for women in the workplace.
In his address, Dr. Dogiwal explained the process of forming the Internal Complaints Committee in detail, stating that it is mandatory to constitute an Internal Complaints Committee in any institution where 10 or more employees are working. He also clarified that uploading the details of the constituted committees on the state government’s C-portal is also a mandatory provision.
He provided information about the process of filing a complaint through the Local Complaints Committee, stating that in institutions where the formation of an internal committee is not possible or where the complaint is against the employer, a complaint can be filed through the Local Committee.
The seminar was attended by all the women supervisors of the Women Empowerment Department, counselors from the Women’s Safety and Counseling Center, and representatives from various institutions in Jaipur district, including schools, colleges, hotels, hospitals, and other organizations. During the interaction with the participants, practical aspects related to the POSH Act, the grievance redressal process, and responsibilities were also discussed. At the end of the program, the participating representatives were urged to ensure the effective implementation of the POSH Act in their respective institutions and to play an active role in creating safe and respectful workplaces for women.
