Jaipur। Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani formally inaugurated the construction and repair work of the damaged embankment of Boraj Pond—located on Varun Sagar Road in Ajmer—on Tuesday. This project is estimated to incur a total cost of ₹332.72 lakhs.

Addressing the gathering, he stated that the embankment of Boraj Pond had sustained damage due to excessive rainfall last year. Consequently, residents of Swastik Nagar and surrounding areas faced significant difficulties.

He added that, in fulfillment of the promise made to the local residents, the reconstruction and strengthening of this embankment are now being undertaken through the Ajmer Development Authority. This initiative will ensure that the area remains free from waterlogging or any other issues during the upcoming monsoon season, while also rendering the pond’s structure safe and robust.

Devnani highlighted that the Chief Minister has made several significant announcements in the budget aimed at the holistic development of Ajmer. These include the sanctioning of approximately ₹16 crores for developing essential amenities—including a large conference hall and VIP suites—at the Circuit House; ₹28 crores for establishing a drinking water supply system in the villages of Hathikheda and Boraj within the Municipal Corporation limits; ₹150 crores for the construction of a new building for the Board of Revenue; approximately ₹200 crores for strengthening the city’s drainage system; and ₹100 crores for improving the water discharge infrastructure.

Furthermore, several other projects have been proposed, including the widening of approximately 6 kilometers of the Pushkar Ghati road; the sanctioning of around ₹20 crores to develop Taragarh Fort as a major tourist hub; the establishment of a spiritual center at the Swami Vivekananda Memorial; the construction of a Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati Panorama at Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University; and the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a passenger ropeway leading to the Chamunda Mata Temple.  He stated that the construction work for the Satellite Hospital located in Kotra is currently underway, and the hospital is presently operating out of a temporary facility. To provide a permanent solution to the drinking water crisis, three new reservoirs will be constructed in a planned manner; furthermore, with the aim of ensuring an uninterrupted power supply, a gas-based GSS (Grid Substation) will be established in the Hathibhata area.

Highlighting the efforts being undertaken to boost tourism and employment, Devnani noted that various projects are being implemented in the city—including the development of a Science Park and a Planetarium, the establishment of a Leopard Safari to promote eco-tourism, and the installation of a statue of Lord Varun as part of the beautification project for Varun Sagar. Additionally, an IT Park has been established with the objective of providing employment opportunities to the youth.
