Farmer Awareness Workshop on Khejri Conservation Held

A one-day farmer awareness and technical information workshop was organized at the divisional premises of the Forest Department, Nagaur, to disseminate information about the state government’s flagship scheme, Panch Gaurav, and to promote the conservation and promotion of the Khejri species under the One District One Plantation Scheme. Officials, employees, farmers, and members of the public from various ranges and block levels of the district participated in the workshop.
The program highlighted the importance of Khejri conservation and encouraged increased tree planting. It was also announced that approximately two lakh saplings are being prepared in departmental nurseries for plantation in the upcoming monsoon season. Some saplings are also being prepared as grafted or Thar Khejri.
At the workshop, experts provided detailed information on the environmental, social, and economic importance of Khejri. Speakers stated that selecting Khejri as the District One Plant is an important step for Nagaur district. Khejri has been the foundation of local people’s livelihoods, animal husbandry, and environmental balance in desert areas for centuries. Therefore, conservation and promotion of this species is crucial. Officials and experts present also provided technical information to farmers about Khejri conservation, planting, care, and its multifaceted benefits.
District Council Chief Executive Officer Arvind Jakhar, Padmashree Himatram Bhambhu, Deputy Forest Conservator Vijay Shankar Pandey, Nagaur Tehsildar Nrisinh Tak, Assistant Forest Conservator Dr. Sajjan Kumar Kanwalia, Panch Gaurav Incharge Mamta Bana, and other officials were present at the event.
