Minister of State for Urban Development (Independent Charge) Jhabar Singh Kharra stated in the Legislative Assembly on Monday that continuous efforts are being made to conserve and revive heritage ponds and water harvesting sources. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the state government is paying serious attention to the development of water resources.
Kharra stated that the Kota Development Authority has issued work orders for the beautification of Kishor Sagar pond. The development work will cost ₹82.31 crore. He added that other water harvesting sources in Kota will be conserved based on a survey. The authority has already constructed the protective wall around Kala Talab at a cost of ₹3.25 crore.
The Minister of State for Urban Development responded to a Calling Attention question from Member Sandeep Sharma during Zero Hour. He stated that the natural drainage system has been obstructed by the construction of colonies in natural drainage areas.
Minister Kharra assured the House that satellite images will be used to review all ponds in the Kota region, assessing their current status and working towards their revival. Furthermore, the State Government is taking necessary action to ensure that other pond areas are protected and encroached upon.
