25,068 found during search, unable to provide satisfactory explanation for the amount

Jaipur. In a major action, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Pratapgarh district has arrested a Patwari red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹6,000. The accused, Madan Lal, Patwari, Halka Kelamla and Additional Charge, Gram Panchayat Rohaniya, Tehsil Pipalkhunt, District Pratapgarh, is accused of demanding bribes in exchange for making three leases online and conducting site inspections.
Anti-Corruption Bureau Director General of Police Govind Gupta stated that a complaint was received at the ACB outpost in Pratapgarh on August 24th. The complainant alleged that Patwari Madan Lal was demanding a bribe of ₹2,000 each from the villagers, the complainant, and his family for making the lease online and conducting site inspections. A total of ₹6,000 was demanded for three plots belonging to the complainant’s family.
The complaint was verified and the bribery demand was confirmed. Following this, the ACB laid a trap and took action on Wednesday, arresting the accused, Patwari Madan Lal, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹6,000.
Over ₹25,000 recovered during the search*
During the search, ₹25,068 was recovered from the accused’s possession. According to the ACB, the accused was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the amount recovered. An investigation is underway regarding this amount.
This action was carried out by a team led by Additional Superintendent of Police, ACB Pratapgarh, Vikram Singh, under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Dr. Rameshwar Singh. The interrogation of the accused and further investigation are ongoing under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police, ACB, Smita Srivastava.
According to the ACB, a case will be registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation will be conducted. The Bureau has clarified that if a case is registered against an individual with the ACB, they can contact the ACB directly to offer their side of the story or offer an explanation. Further investigation decisions are made only after a detailed examination and analysis of the explanation.
