Jaipur. The Lalkothi police station in Jaipur East district has busted an organized gang that was stealing the belongings of visitors to Central Jail, arresting three notorious criminals. Two expensive stolen mobile phones—an iPhone 13 Pro and an Oppo Reno 8T—were recovered from the accused. Police have also registered a case against the accused under sections of organized crime.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Jaipur East), IPS Ranjita Sharma, stated that on August 2, a man went to visit his brother in Jaipur Central Jail. During the visit, he left his bag outside, containing two iPhones, an Oppo mobile phone, cash, and other items. Upon returning, the bag was missing. CCTV footage revealed a suspicious young man carrying a bag, following which a case was registered at the Lalkothi police station and an investigation was initiated.
On the instructions of DCP Ranjita Sharma, a special team was formed under the leadership of Station Officer Shyam Sundar Sharma, under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Paras Jain and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Gandhinagar) Narayan Kumar Bajiya. The team acted swiftly and arrested Ganesh Gurjar, Wasim, and Jagmohan alias Samundar. Both stolen mobile phones were recovered from the accused.
Police investigation revealed that the accused would first conduct reconnaissance of visitors to the jail and, as soon as they found an opportunity, steal their belongings and flee. Action has also been taken against the gang under the Organized Crime Act, and their involvement in other crimes is being investigated.
According to police records, the arrested accused have a criminal history. The main accused, Ganesh Gurjar, has several previous cases of theft registered against him, while Jagmohan alias Samundar and Wasim also have serious criminal cases registered against them in various police stations.
