Jaipur। A special team from the CID Crime Branch at Police Headquarters has achieved another major success as part of a special crackdown drive launched against wanted and habitual offenders. Operating under the direction of Bipin Kumar Pandey, Additional Director General of Police (Crime), the team successfully apprehended the prime accused—Abhayraj alias ‘Danav’—from the Raja Park area of Jaipur. He had been absconding in connection with a life-threatening assault and a case filed under the SC/ST Act within the jurisdiction of the Kotwali Police Station in Alwar city. The accused had been on the run continuously since this sensational assault took place in Alwar; consequently, the Superintendent of Police, Alwar, had announced a cash reward of ₹10,000 for his arrest.According to the sequence of events, on the night of August 30, 2023, at approximately 10:30 PM, the complainant—Harnek Singh alias ‘Pappi’—and his cousin, Pradeep Singh alias ‘Mangli’, were traveling by motorcycle from Nangli Circle towards the Tripolia Temple. En route, acting on an old enmity, the accused Abhayraj and his accomplice, Appu Raja, attempted to knock them off their motorcycle by ramming into them. When Pradeep Singh fled towards the Purusharthi Dharamshala in a bid to save his life, he was surrounded by a group of miscreants—including Praveen Gurjar, Ketan Meena, Anurag Meena, Raj Yadav, and others—who were already present there and armed with weapons. With the intent to kill, they launched a frenzied assault upon him. During this attack, the prime accused—Abhayraj—approached from behind and struck Pradeep directly on the head with a sword; when the victim raised his hand to block the blow, he sustained a severe fracture and deep lacerations to his hand. Believing the victim to be dead, the miscreants fled the scene; subsequently, the victim was admitted in critical condition to Solanki Hospital in Alwar.  Given that the accused is extremely cunning and a habitual offender, the Crime Branch of the Police Headquarters laid a trap to effect his arrest. Conducted under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police Mrs. Rashi Dogra Dudi and Additional Superintendent of Police Mrs. Neha Agarwal, and led by Sub-Inspector Mr. Shailendra Kumar, this special apprehension drive was codenamed ‘Operation Danav’ (Operation Demon).
Following the crime, and in an effort to evade arrest, the accused had been continuously absconding—taking refuge in various locations across Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, and the rural area of Bassi in Jaipur. A dedicated special team from the CID (CB) had been maintaining a sharp vigil over all these potential hideouts and the activities of the accused for a continuous period of one month.

*Apprehended in the Raja Park Area After a Month of Reconnaissance*

During this period, through technical analysis and credible inputs provided by Head Constables Krishna Gopal Sharma and Arun Kumar Sharma, team members received concrete intelligence indicating that the accused—identified as Abhayraj alias ‘Danav’—was staying in Jaipur’s Raja Park area while concealing his true identity. Acting on this precise information, the CID (CB) team immediately cordoned off the area, apprehended the accused, and handed him over to the Kotwali Police Station in Alwar city for further legal proceedings and intensive interrogation.
*Active in Criminal Activities Since 2019*
The arrested accused, Abhayraj alias ‘Danav’—a resident of Dahmi under the Behror Police Station jurisdiction—possesses a criminal record that is both extensive and grave. In 2019, separate cases were registered against him at the Kotwali and Aravali Vihar Police Stations in Alwar city under the Arms Act for the illegal possession of weapons, as well as for involvement in incidents of grievous assault. Subsequently, in 2020, he emerged as the prime accused in the murder of a 30-year-old man during a violent clash involving heavy stone-pelting and indiscriminate firing—an incident triggered by a lease dispute within the jurisdiction of the Khetri Police Station in the Jhunjhunu district.  In this operation, conducted under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Shailendra Sharma, Head Constables Krishna Gopal Sharma and Arun Kumar Sharma played a pivotal role, while Assistant Sub-Inspector Shankar Dayal Sharma, Head Constable Ram Avtar Meena, and Karni Singh provided technical support; furthermore, team members Assistant Sub-Inspector Dushyant Singh, Head Constables Ravindra Singh, Shahid Ali, Brijesh Sharma, and Kuldeep Singh, along with Constables Sohandev, Naresh Kumar, and Sanjay Kumar, made a commendable contribution.
