Jaipur. On Friday, Sanjay Sharma, the Minister of State for Forests and Environment (Independent Charge), conveyed a message of environmental conservation by planting saplings at the Alwar Circuit House.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma stated that on June 5, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (One Tree in Mother’s Name) campaign, calling upon the citizens of the country to plant a sapling in their mother’s name—an initiative that has since evolved into a mass movement. Taking Prime Minister Modi’s call forward, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has set a target of planting 50 crore (500 million) saplings over a period of five years under the “Hariyalo Rajasthan” (Green Rajasthan) campaign. Under this initiative, 7.5 crore saplings were planted in the state last year, and approximately 12 crore saplings have been planted this year, boasting a survival rate of nearly 80 percent. He remarked upon the energy and confidence with which plantation activities are currently being undertaken across the state.
