The State View | Sunil Sharma Jaipur. Addressing a press conference held at the state party headquarters, BJP State In-charge Dr. Radha Mohan Das Agarwal stated that, within Indian society, women have consistently played a pivotal role in driving social change, conserving the environment, and participating in the political process. Citing the examples of Narayani Devi Verma, Janaki Devi Bajaj, Hadi Rani, Rani Karnavati, Rani Padmavati, Panna Dhai, and Amrita Devi Bishnoi, he remarked that the contributions of women have historically served as a source of profound inspiration. He further noted that, despite this significant role played by women, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought to expedite the provision of reservation for women, the Congress party and its allies deliberately created obstacles to hinder the process. He alleged that the Congress, acting through a premeditated conspiracy, prevented the passage of the amendment act.
BJP State In-charge Dr. Agarwal affirmed that the Prime Minister has neither been disheartened by this opposition nor has his resolve wavered in the slightest. The BJP views women’s reservation as a fundamental matter of principle and firmly believes that it is impossible to conceive of the nation’s development or a mature political system without the active participation of women. He reiterated that the party remains fully committed to implementing women’s reservation in practice at the earliest possible opportunity. He strongly condemned the stance adopted by the anti-BJP parties, characterizing it as inherently anti-women. BJP State In-charge Dr. Agarwal remarked that it is both surprising and unprecedented to witness the opposition parties so openly and vociferously opposing the cause of women’s reservation. No one could have believed that the opposition would expose themselves so blatantly in their opposition to women’s reservation. He stated that in 2023, the opposition had supported this bill reluctantly and out of compulsion; however, now that the elections are still some time away, they seem to believe that the public’s memory will have faded. For this very reason, they are opposing the bill based on various pretexts—such as the potential reduction in the number of seats allocated to South India. He asserted that the women of the country are aware and vigilant, and they have already recognized the opposition’s true face. When the time comes, women will give a fitting reply, and the opposition now stands completely exposed.
Dr. Agarwal remarked that the opposition fears that once women’s reservation is implemented, it will trigger a massive surge in support for the BJP, garnering widespread public backing. The constituents of the ‘Indi-Thugbandhan’ (Opposition Alliance) are incapable of remaining united and are constantly embroiled in internal conflicts. They form an alliance in Parliament solely to defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi; yet, in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee’s party remains distinct from the Congress, while in Kerala, the CPM and the Congress stand in direct opposition to one another. This makes it evident that theirs is not an ideological alliance, but merely a temporary grouping formed for the sole purpose of opposing Narendra Modi. Characterizing the opposition parties as dynastic, Dr. Agarwal stated that parties such as the Congress, the Samajwadi Party, the Shiv Sena, the Trinamool Congress, and the DMK are founded upon dynastic principles and lack internal democracy. He added that these parties have now begun to realize that the people of the country are rejecting dynastic politics, and that their very political existence could be wiped out in the future.
Dr. Agarwal noted that under previous political dispensations in the country, women were often relegated to the background; however, the BJP has consistently worked towards granting women their due respect and rights. Citing the leadership of Vasundhara Raje, he described her as a living embodiment of women’s empowerment. The Congress party—and its members—are notorious for engaging in such conspiratorial maneuvers. Vasundhara Raje has openly articulated her stance on this matter, and administrative officials in Rajasthan have also been directed to take appropriate action regarding the issue. In this matter, action will be taken against anyone involved—regardless of their political affiliation. He stated that the BJP first gave Rajasthan an effective woman Chief Minister, and has now appointed an effective woman as Deputy Chief Minister. Similarly, in Uttar Pradesh, the party supported ‘Behan’ Mayawati to become Chief Minister on three occasions, while in Delhi—both currently and in the past—it has provided a woman Chief Minister. Dr. Agarwal asserted that the BJP’s principle is clear: women must receive their rightful entitlements, and the party is working towards this objective with complete commitment.
