Jaipur: The Jaipur Municipal Corporation launched a one-day mega campaign for the anti-rabies vaccination and on-the-spot registration of pet dogs and cats. A large number of pet owners arrived with their dogs for the vaccination and registration drive. So far, over two thousand dogs have been registered.
The Municipal Corporation has set the registration fee at ₹1,000; this covers the dog’s registration as well as anti-rabies vaccination and other necessary formalities, facilitated by the co-organizer, International Dog Bazaar.
In response to growing demand, the Municipal Corporation has also launched an online pet registration facility starting today. Pet owners can now apply online from the comfort of their homes. Applicants are required to upload a photo of the pet and other necessary details. The online registration portal is now active, allowing citizens to easily register their pet dogs.
A unique initiative by ‘Poffy Cafe’ was also a highlight of the campaign: a massive 30 kg ‘dog pizza’ was prepared and served to the pets and community dogs present at the venue. Members of the public also had name tags made for their pets on the spot. The Mega Pet Carnival featured ice cream for the pets, and attractive gifts were presented to the pet owners.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Om Kasera stated that this special campaign was launched with the aim of promoting the registration and anti-rabies vaccination of pet dogs in the capital. He stated that the online registration facility has commenced today, enabling the maximum number of citizens to easily register their pets. He clarified that the registration facility would continue beyond September 30; however, if an unregistered pet dog is found after this date, the owner could face a fine of up to ₹5,000. In serious cases, the Municipal Corporation may even take the pet dog into its custody.
The Municipal Corporation states that the objective of this campaign is to maintain organized records of pets, prevent diseases like rabies, and promote responsible pet ownership—an initiative in which Viren Sharma, founder of ‘International Dog Bazaar,’ and his team played a pivotal role.
