Jaipur. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jaipur East, Ranjeeta Sharma (IPS), stated that instructions were issued to all Station House Officers (SHOs) in the Jaipur East district to take effective action against operators of illegal hooka bars. Additional DCP (Jaipur East) Alok Kumar Singhal was directed to oversee this operation. Consequently, under the supervision of Vinod Kumar Sharma (Assistant Commissioner of Police, Malviya Nagar, Jaipur East), a team was formed to conduct a raid in the Bajaj Nagar police station area. The team was led by Ramdhan Dobhal (SHO, Bajaj Nagar) and included Girvar Singh (Sub-Inspector) and Constables Ramavtar (11433) and Mahendra (10946).
The team raided the illegally operating Mercury Hooka Bar Cafe located on SL Marg, Durgapura. They seized 3 hookas, 3 flavor-filled chillums, 3 pipes, and 1 pair of tongs. Challans were issued to the young men and women found smoking hooka at the premises. The manager, Vinay Adhikari (son of Paresh Adhikari, aged 36, resident of Rajmahal Palace Staff Quarters, Sardar Patel Marg, C-Scheme, Jaipur; currently manager of Mercury Rooftop Lounge, SL Marg), had initially fled upon seeing the police force but was subsequently traced and arrested. A case has been registered against him under Section 4A/21A of the COTPA Act. Investigation into the matter is ongoing. Head Constable Dharamsingh (1821) and Constables Ramvatar (11433) and Mahendra (10946) played a significant role in taking action against the hookah bar.
