Constable in Kota arrested red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹7,000 to settle a false case

Acting on instructions from the ACB headquarters, the ACB Kota unit arrested accused Constable Hariom red-handed today while he was accepting a bribe of ₹7,000 from the complainant.
Anti-Corruption Bureau Director General Govind Gupta stated that the ACB Kota unit received a complaint alleging that the complainant’s neighbors had lodged a false police report against his son at the Udyog Nagar Police Station, Kota. During the investigation of the case, the accused, Constable Hariom, summoned the complainant to the Udyog Nagar Police Station and demanded a bribe of ₹15,000 to hush up the matter.
The complaint further alleged that during the interaction, the accused, Hariom, forcibly took ₹5,000 from the complainant’s pocket and was continuously pressuring him to pay the remaining bribe amount of ₹10,000.
Subsequently, the complaint was verified under the supervision of ACB Kota Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Omprakash Meena and the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vijay Swarnkar. During the verification process on June 15, 2026, the accused, Hariom, agreed to accept a bribe of ₹8,000 from the complainant, thereby confirming the demand.
Acting on this, a trap team led by ASP and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Anees Ahmed arrested the accused, Constable Hariom, red-handed outside the Udyog Nagar Police Station, Kota, while he was accepting the bribe amount of ₹7,000 from the complainant.
Interrogation of the accused and further proceedings are underway under the guidance of ACB Additional Director General (ADG) Smita Srivastava and Inspector General (IG) S. Parimala. ACB. A case will be registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation will be conducted.
