Extensive Water Conservation Activities Being Organized in Jaipur District Under the “Vande-Ganga” Public Campaign for Water Conservation
The State View Sunil Sharma Jaipur। Under the “Vande-Ganga” Water Conservation Public Campaign 2026, the Department of Watershed Development and Soil Conservation—acting as the nodal department—is organizing water conservation and public awareness activities on a massive scale across the Gram Panchayats (village councils) of Dudu, Mojmabad, Phagi, Sambhar, Kishan Renwal, Tunga, Shahpura, Amer, Jalsu, Govindgarh, Chaksu, Jobner, Madhorajpura, and other blocks within Jaipur district.
Pratibha Verma, Chief Executive Officer of the District Council, stated that during the campaign, water conservation structures constructed in various Gram Panchayat areas of the district under the Chief Minister’s Water Self-Reliance Campaign (MJSA) 2.1 and 2.2 were inspected and inaugurated. During this period, more than 200 completed works—including farm ponds, sunken ponds, recharge shafts, water harvesting structures, check dams, and other water conservation projects—were inspected and formally dedicated.
Additionally, under the Chief Minister’s Water Self-Reliance Campaign 2.2 and 2.3, proposals for over 430 new water conservation projects—received from various blocks—have been prepared and forwarded for approval. These proposals encompass works related to farm ponds, sunken ponds, recharge structures, pasture development, water harvesting, and groundwater recharge.
As part of the campaign, *Oran* (sacred groves) and pasture lands were identified in various Gram Panchayats, and preliminary preparations have commenced at the selected sites for tree plantation using the Miyawaki method, as well as for grass sowing. Under the “Hariyalo Rajasthan” (Green Rajasthan) campaign, preparations were made to plant over 41,000 saplings in Dantla Meena, Kishan Renwal, Mojmabad, Dudu, and other Gram Panchayats; hundreds of pits were dug to designate the specific sites for these plantations. Under the aegis of seed bank activities, special programs were organized in the Maujmabad region, benefiting local farmers and villagers. Simultaneously, to promote pasture development and natural resource conservation, various sites were selected and demarcated as pastures across several locations.
During the campaign, “Jal Chaupals” (water forums) were organized in numerous Gram Panchayats—including Dantla Meena, Akoda, Shyosinghpura, Anantpura, Ramsinghpura, Nayabas, Acharol, Sirsali, Kushalpura, Tamadiya, Jharna, Devla, Jadawata, Morada, Kuriyon Ka Bas, Hasuliya, and Mehandwas. Participating in these forums, over a thousand villagers expressed their views on water conservation, groundwater augmentation, rainwater harvesting, and the preservation of natural resources, while pledging to transform water conservation into a mass movement.
Through these activities—conducted by the Department of Watershed Development and Soil Conservation—an environment of widespread public awareness regarding water conservation is being fostered, thereby encouraging water conservation efforts, groundwater augmentation, the expansion of green cover, and public participation.
