The BJP Has Always Championed Democratic Traditions, Political Propriety, and Constructive Dialogue: Madan Rathore

Jaipur. Expressing grave concern over the unparliamentary language, anarchic politics, and conduct violating democratic norms consistently adopted by opposition politicians, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Madan Rathore stated that while ideological differences are natural in politics—and dissent is indeed necessary—crossing the fine line between opposition and hostility is detrimental to democracy. Rathore asserted that the BJP opposes ideas, but within our political culture, the propriety of language and the dignity of public life have always been accorded the highest priority. The duty of the opposition is to expose the government’s shortcomings, raise public issues, and present alternative perspectives; however, fostering personal acrimony, using derogatory language, or promoting social discord does not befit any responsible political party or leader.
BJP State President Madan Rathore remarked that the greatest need in politics today is for dialogue, decency, and ideological debate; unfortunately, however, certain leaders are attempting to create an atmosphere of conflict and agitation within society solely for the sake of political gain. This very tendency is frequently evident in the language and public statements of Hanuman Beniwal. Referring to the incident during his visit to Kuchaman—where he was confronted by supporters of Hanuman Beniwal—Rathore recounted that a group of individuals suddenly approached his vehicle holding placards and began behaving aggressively. Given the situation, his security personnel prevented him from alighting from the vehicle. Rathore affirmed that anyone wishing to articulate their views is welcome to do so; however, if one’s intent appears to be creating an atmosphere of fear or engaging in physical assault rather than engaging in dialogue, it constitutes not democratic dissent, but a manifestation of anarchy. Such incidents unequivocally demonstrate that certain individuals are intent on promoting a politics of confrontation rather than engaging in democratic opposition. BJP State President Madan Rathore stated that the responsibility of a public representative is to guide the youth in a positive direction, uphold the law, and strengthen discipline and democratic values within society. However, when a leader uses public platforms to urge people not to pay electricity bills, to oppose meter readers, to challenge government systems, or to sow distrust regarding law and order, they are effectively leading the youth astray. Rathore asserted that such actions undermine the rule of law. It is evident that Beniwal is not only ruining the younger generation but also leading them down a misguided path. He is attempting to project himself as a self-styled “Supremo.” While democracy grants the right to dissent, no one possesses the right to break the law or incite the public.
BJP State President Madan Rathore remarked that public representatives—who enter Parliament and legislative assemblies after taking an oath to uphold the Constitution—are expected to demonstrate respect for the law and constitutional institutions. Those who themselves swear allegiance to the Constitution yet subsequently work to incite the public against the established system are in dire need of introspection. In political life, words carry immense significance; a leader’s words have the power to influence millions of people. Therefore, maintaining the dignity of language in public life is absolutely imperative. It is unfortunate that, today, certain leaders are employing rhetoric that not only taints political discourse but also damages the very prestige of democracy. The BJP firmly believes that the opposition must be strong, the government should be open to criticism, and there must be a vigorous struggle over issues of public interest; however, dissent does not equate to enmity. Political rivals are not enemies. A democratic environment should be such that, despite differences in ideology, individuals continue to treat one another with respect.
BJP State President Madan Rathore emphasized the need to liberate politics from a culture characterized by personal attacks, abusive language, and incitement. It is the fundamental responsibility of political leadership to set a worthy example for society. If political parties and their leaders fail to adhere to established norms of decorum themselves, the democratic framework will inevitably weaken, and public trust will be severely eroded. He also appealed to the media to play a constructive role in promoting democratic values, dignified political discourse, and positive politics. In the interest of society and democracy, encouragement should be given to a brand of politics rooted in dialogue, development, constitutional values, and public service. The Bharatiya Janata Party has always championed—and will continue to champion—democratic traditions, political integrity, and healthy dialogue. The BJP will never shy away from ideological struggles, but it will continue to respond in a democratic manner to any attempt to turn politics into a vehicle for personal animosity, unparliamentary language, and anarchy.
