Jaipur. Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar stated that, alongside heatwave management, robust arrangements must be ensured in hospitals to cater to patients during the summer season. He issued directives to exercise special vigilance in light of the severe heat. He emphasized that, in addition to making adequate provisions for shade and drinking water within hospitals, absolutely no negligence should be tolerated in the provision of medical treatment.

Minister Khimsar issued these directives on Tuesday during a weekly review meeting held via video conferencing at Swasthya Bhawan. During the meeting, he conducted a detailed review of various key areas—including heatwave preparedness, maternal and child health services, compliance with budget announcements, and the progress of the HPV vaccination program—and provided necessary guidelines.

The Medical Minister stated that inspections have been conducted through nodal officers appointed at the state level to review the necessary arrangements for treating patients affected by the heatwave in hospitals. All Chief Medical and Health Officers, as well as Principal Medical Officers, have been directed to reserve dedicated beds for heatstroke cases, ensure the availability of essential medicines (such as ORS, IV fluids, etc.), and arrange for emergency cooling equipment and kits. Furthermore, instructions have been issued to ensure comprehensive arrangements for providing cool drinking water to patients and their attendants, as well as ensuring adequate shade and cooling facilities in hospital waiting areas.

Gajendra Singh Khimsar affirmed that, to ensure the comprehensive and effective management of the rapidly intensifying heat and heatwave, hospital staff well-versed in the treatment protocols for heatstroke-related illnesses are being strategically deployed. Specific instructions have also been issued to exercise special precautions for vulnerable groups, such as pregnant women, children, and the elderly.  The Health Minister stated that, in recent times, the department has conducted record-breaking recruitment drives, thereby ensuring the availability of adequate staff even in remote and border areas. This has significantly strengthened health services. He directed all in-charge officials of health institutions to prioritize updating information regarding vacant posts on the ‘Raj Health Portal’ so that personnel can be deployed with immediate effect based on requirements, thereby enabling the optimal utilization of human resources.

Mission Director (NHM), Dr. Jogaram, issued directives to take more concrete steps toward increasing the coverage of the HPV vaccine across the state. He suggested that, in light of the summer vacations in educational institutions, health camps should be organized at the local level by formulating a proactive action plan in coordination with ASHA and ANM workers. Additionally, he reviewed the ‘ABHA Card’ program under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission. He directed that the registration of all health professionals be completed by May 31st.

The Director of Public Health reviewed the pendency of cases received through various channels, such as the ‘Sampark Portal’ and the ‘CM Helpline.’ He directed that all pending cases be resolved within the stipulated timeframes, in accordance with established rules. He further instructed all Chief Medical and Health Officers to ensure that the appointment and relieving orders for all health personnel are issued exclusively through the ‘Raj Health Portal.’ Furthermore, he directed officials to coordinate with the local administration to expedite the resolution of land allotment cases for the construction of new hospital buildings, in compliance with the budgetary announcements. The meeting was attended by other senior officials, including Additional Mission Director (NHM) Dr. T. Shubhamangala and Project Director (NHM) Priya Bhargava.
