Rajasthan Police’s Intensive Blockade Operation Creates Panic Among Criminals; Over 47,000 Vehicles Inspected at 810 Checkpoints

11,504 Actions Under the MV Act and 274 Arrests During Two-Day Mega Campaign; Major Crackdown Also Launched Against Illegal Weapons, Liquor, and Narcotics

Jaipur: Acting on the directives of Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Kumar Sharma, a two-day intensive blockade campaign conducted by the Rajasthan Police across the state has created a stir among criminals, traffic violators, and anti-social elements. During this special campaign, a total of 810 checkpoints were established, leading to the inspection of over 47,000 vehicles, while 274 offenders were arrested under various legal sections. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) V.K. Singh stated that intensive checking was carried out on all major routes across the Bharatpur, Udaipur, and Kota ranges on Saturday, May 16, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and across the Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Jaipur ranges on Sunday, May 17, from 3:00 AM to 6:00 AM. As part of the campaign, the police conducted comprehensive inspections of two-wheelers and four-wheelers, taking strict action against those violating traffic rules. According to police records, a total of 24,573 two-wheelers and 22,531 four-wheelers were inspected across the state.

*Over 11,000 Actions Under the MV Act*

During the blockade campaign, extensive action was taken against instances of drunk driving, riding/driving without a helmet or seatbelt, driving while talking on a mobile phone, vehicles displaying fake or missing number plates, and vehicles fitted with tinted window films. The police initiated a total of 11,504 actions under the Motor Vehicles Act.  These actions included measures taken against 757 individuals for drunk driving, 1,667 drivers for riding without helmets, 1,484 for failing to wear seat belts, 191 drivers for talking on mobile phones while driving, 1,438 vehicles that were suspicious or lacked number plates, and 1,017 vehicles fitted with tinted windows (black film).

*Udaipur and Ajmer Ranges Lead the Way*

The Udaipur Range remained the most active during the blockade campaign, where 2,647 actions under the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act were initiated, while 2,576 actions were recorded in the Ajmer Range. The crackdown on violators was intensified with 1,795 actions in the Jaipur Range, 1,768 in Kota, 1,735 in the Bharatpur Range, 968 in the Jodhpur Range, and 15 in the Bikaner Range.
*274 Arrests*

In the second phase of the campaign, the police undertook special operations against criminals, smugglers, and anti-social elements, resulting in the arrest of a total of 274 individuals. During this period, cases were registered under various statutes: 12 cases under the Arms Act, 41 under the Excise Act, 10 under the NDPS Act, and 62 under other special and local laws.
Specifically, 73 criminals were arrested in connection with various FIRs and cases, while 201 individuals were apprehended under preventive measures pursuant to Section 170 of the BNSS (Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita).

*Weapons, Liquor, and Vehicles Seized*

During the campaign, illegal weapons, liquor, and suspicious vehicles were seized at several locations. In the Kota Range, 5 sharp-edged weapons, 120 pouches of country liquor, and 2 liters of illicit liquor were seized. Additionally, action was taken involving the seizure of 27 vehicles. The Bharatpur Range police recovered 5 liters of illicit liquor and seized 61 suspicious vehicles under Section 207 of the MV Act.
ADG Singh stated that such joint campaigns would continue consistently in the future to effectively curb crime, ensure road safety, and keep a check on suspicious activities.
