Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar reviews preparations for proper power management during the summer season

Jaipur. Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar has directed officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the upcoming summer season. He stated that the heat is expected to be intense this year. Therefore, officials should assess the potential increase in power demand and ensure adequate power availability.
Minister Hiralal Nagar was reviewing power demand and availability for the upcoming summer season with officials from the Energy Department and power corporations at Vidyut Bhawan on Tuesday. He urged efforts to secure power allocation from the common pool of central power plants. He added that last year, the Government of India allocated a quota of up to 750 MW for the summer season, which helped manage supply. The Energy Minister also directed that the tender process for purchasing power from the exchange on a short-term basis be completed immediately.
Additional Chief Secretary, Energy, Ajitabh Sharma directed that the Generation Corporation ensure better maintenance of thermal units to reduce the likelihood of unnecessary tripping and maximize production. He also directed the Generation Corporation to expedite the progress of work on the battery energy storage system.
Om Kasera, Managing Director of Rajasthan Energy Development and IT Services, gave a presentation on average energy demand, availability, and demand growth from April to September. He informed that tenders have been issued for short-term power purchases from the exchange for the months of April and May. At the meeting, Jodhpur Discom also made a presentation regarding the provision of two daily blocks of electricity to agricultural consumers through energy storage systems at some substations.
Jodhpur Discom Managing Director Dr. Bhanwarlal, Energy Department Joint Secretary Saurabh Swami, Generation Corporation Chairman and Managing Director Devendra Shrungi along with officials of all three Electricity Distribution Corporations and Transmission Corporation were also present in the meeting. Ajmer Discom Managing Director K.P Verma joined the video conference.
