To ensure a clean and beautiful environment for the capital, Jaipur, ahead of the festival of lights, the Municipal Corporation launched a special cleaning drive in the Walled City on Saturday night. Under “Operation Clean Sweep 2.0,” the city’s major markets and inner streets were cleaned throughout the night, starting at 12 midnight. Municipal Corporation Mayor Sunil Kothari and Commissioner Om Kasera also led the campaign. With the help of approximately 2,000 additional sanitation workers and 1,000 resources, garbage was removed from the Walled City’s markets, roads, and streets.

Indeed, along with the cleanliness of markets and homes during Diwali, the amount of garbage also increases. Keeping this in mind, the Municipal Corporation decided to launch a special cleaning drive before the festival this time. The reason behind conducting the drive at night was that there is more traffic and movement of people in the markets during the day. In such a situation, large-scale cleaning during the day can cause inconvenience to the public and businesses.
*Clean the city like your home: Mayor*

Mayor Sunil Kothari said that just as everyone performs special cleaning of their homes during Diwali, the Municipal Corporation is cleaning the city’s major markets and public places. Additional staff and resources have been deployed for this purpose. Nearly 2,000 employees are engaged in making the walled city area clean and beautiful.
Regarding the city’s deteriorating sanitation system and the problem of stray animals, the Mayor said that these are both serious issues. To address these issues, the Municipal Corporation must address its shortcomings and increase public cooperation. A concerted effort will yield positive results. He said that a public awareness campaign will be launched by engaging youth at the ward level to clean the city. Just as the people of Indore do not allow their city to become dirty, the citizens of Jaipur must also develop a sense of responsibility and cleanliness towards their city.
*Traffic during the day, hence the night cleaning drive*
Municipal Commissioner Om Kasera stated that a few months ago, the Municipal Corporation launched Operation Clean Sweep. Under this initiative, special cleaning operations were carried out in key areas of the city overnight. In continuation of this initiative, Operation Clean Sweep 2.0 has now been organized. He stated that this time, additional staff and resources are being deployed to clean the walled city overnight. During the day, markets are experiencing heavy traffic and public movement. Therefore, a large-scale cleaning drive could cause inconvenience to residents. Therefore, nighttime was chosen to remove the excess waste generated during Diwali without disrupting public movement.
*Don’t throw garbage on the road, put it in the municipal vehicle*

The Commissioner stated that the Municipal Corporation is fulfilling its responsibility to keep the city clean, but public participation is equally important. People should avoid throwing garbage on the streets and should only put household waste in the municipal garbage collection vehicles. He stated that the city cannot be kept clean for long periods of time solely through the efforts of the municipal corporation. Unless citizens understand their responsibilities, lasting improvements in sanitation are difficult. To keep the city clean, the corporation and the public must work together.
Preparing for a Cleanliness Marathon

Commissioner Om Kasera stated that following public participation and positive feedback, the municipal corporation organized the “Rang De Gulabi 2.0” campaign. Operation Clean Sweep 2.0 has now been launched ahead of Diwali. A cleanliness marathon will soon follow.
He stated that the purpose of these campaigns is not merely to clean for a few days, but to make citizens aware and responsible about cleanliness. The municipal corporation is also preparing to celebrate Diwali in a special way this year. Detailed information will be shared soon.
*From Rang De Gulabi to Clean Sweep, the second phase of cleanliness campaigns*
The Jaipur Municipal Corporation is running various campaigns to make the city clean and beautiful. Through campaigns like “Rang De Gulabi,” the Swachhata Marathon, and Operation Clean Sweep, the focus is on increasing public participation in cleanliness. In this regard, the second phase of Rang De Gulabi and Operation Clean Sweep has been completed. Now, preparations are underway for the Swachhata Marathon. The Municipal Corporation is striving to clean and beautify the city by removing garbage accumulated in markets, streets, and public places before Diwali.
