The theme of the meeting was “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainable Development.” Extensive discussions took place regarding strengthening industrial capabilities, adopting technological changes, and enhancing institutional cooperation under the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR).

Welcoming the delegates, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal stated that Jaipur represents an excellent blend of rich craft traditions and modern industrial development. He remarked that in the rapidly changing global economy, BRICS nations must leverage their complementary strengths to develop self-reliant and competitive industries. He also highlighted that India has undertaken several significant initiatives to strengthen industrial cooperation during its BRICS chairmanship.

During the meeting, the collaborative framework for the MSME Working Group was finalized, while the Terms of Reference and work plan for the BRICS Working Group on the Photovoltaic Industry were approved. India also proposed a BRICS Incubator Network and a BRICS Startup Innovation Fund to accelerate innovation-led industrial development. Additionally, emphasis was placed on GIS-based infrastructure and city logistics planning.

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada stated that India is committed to enhancing cooperation with BRICS nations for robust, inclusive, and sustainable industrial development.

The most significant outcome of the conference was the adoption of the Joint Declaration by the BRICS Industry Ministers. It recorded the shared commitment of member nations towards industrial development, digital transformation, innovation, capacity building, and knowledge sharing. Commending the progress made under India’s 2026 presidency, the delegations noted that initiatives launched under PartNIR would play a pivotal role in building competitive industries for the future.

The 16th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting is now scheduled to be held in Jaipur on August 7 under India’s presidency. Union Minister Piyush Goyal will chair the meeting, with Union Minister of State Jitin Prasada and Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal also in attendance. During the meeting, ministers and delegations from BRICS nations will also undertake cultural tours of Jaipur’s City Palace and Hawa Mahal, offering them a glimpse into India’s rich cultural heritage. India has articulated that the objective of its BRICS presidency is to accelerate progress towards the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’ (Developed India@2047) while strengthening a rule-based, transparent, and inclusive global trading system.
