Lack of concrete policy on water, employment, and environmental protection, Western Rajasthan’s neglect unfortunate

Baytu MLA and former Cabinet Minister Harish Chaudhary, reacting to the State Budget 2026, described it as a failure, ignoring the fundamental problems of the state, especially Western Rajasthan and the Thar region. He said that despite big announcements, the lack of a concrete, timely, and measurable action plan is clearly visible.
Harish Chaudhary said that youth are expected to become “job creators,” while the budget lacks clear provisions for new recruitment, a concrete relief plan for the unemployed, and a concrete policy for establishing local industries. The youth of Thar are still waiting for employment and opportunities.
He stated that Barmer and the bordering Thar region are grappling with water scarcity, irrigation shortages, and drinking water problems, but the budget offers no specific package or concrete roadmap for a permanent solution to these problems.
Expressing concern over environmental issues, Chaudhary said that the Khejri Bachao Andolan, the demand for Aravalli conservation, and the protection of forest land have become a mass movement. Despite this, the budget’s lack of a clear policy or legal commitment to environmental protection and ecological balance is disappointing. He stated that announcements regarding investment and land allocations should ensure that local resources, the environment, and the interests of the people are not ignored. A balance between development and the environment is essential.
Harish Chaudhary also said that progress reports and expenditure details of previous budget announcements should be made public to ensure transparency and accountability. He concluded by saying that the public needs results, not just announcements. The Thar region today expects clear and concrete decisions regarding water, employment, and environmental protection. The opposition will continue to strongly raise the voice of the people and will not accept any compromise on the interests of the region.
