On Sunday, environmentalist saints and intellectuals met with Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma at the Chief Minister’s residence. Saints and representatives of the Bishnoi community from various districts of the state expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for the announcement made in the State Assembly on February 5th regarding the enactment of a law for Khejri tree conservation. The saints said that this excellent initiative by the Chief Minister is historic. Intellectuals of the community also congratulated the Chief Minister in the presence of the saints.
Mahant Ramanand Ji Maharaj of Mukam Peeth expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and said that the state government’s initiative to enact a law for the protection of the Khejri tree after 70 years is commendable and has brought joy to the community. Mahant Swami Sachchidanand Ji said that Chief Minister Sharma had listened to suggestions from environmentalist saints and representatives regarding Khejri conservation on August 27, 2025. The Chief Minister has fulfilled what he promised. He announced the enactment of the law in the Assembly, citing the wishes of the saints.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Sharma said in his address that his government is fully committed to the conservation of Khejri trees and the environment. We had assured the environmentalist saints and representatives that we would enact a law for Khejri conservation after taking their suggestions. In this direction, we have made an announcement in the Assembly, and the process is underway in accordance with the suggestions of the saints. He assured that a law for Khejri conservation will be brought soon.
The Chief Minister said that in our culture, trees, mountains, and rivers are worshipped. Saints and sages also hold special importance in our culture, and they guide society on the right path. The Bishnoi community has inspired the world to live in harmony with nature. He paid his respects to Lord Jambheshwar Ji and Mother Amrita Devi, saying that the 29 principles propounded by Jambheshwar Ji are still a highly effective model for environmental protection. Referring to the eternal message of “Show compassion to all living beings, do not harm green trees,” he said that Jambhoji taught us that protecting innocent creatures and trees is also a form of devotion. Similarly, Mother Amrita Devi taught us to protect and respect nature by considering it as a mother. He said that inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “One Tree in the Name of Mother” campaign, our government launched a massive tree plantation drive and planted 20 crore saplings in two years. Our target is to plant more than 50 crore saplings in five years.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister honored Mukam Peethadhishwar Ramanand Ji Maharaj, Mahant Swami Sachchidanand Ji, and all the other saints by presenting them with shawls and coconuts.
Present on the occasion were Minister of State for Industries and Commerce K.K. Bishnoi, Chairman of the Rajasthan State Animal Welfare Board Jaswant Bishnoi, former MLA Bihari Lal Bishnoi, Acharya Mahant Swami Bhagwan Das, Mahant Swami Bhagirathdas Shastri, Raju Maharaj, Swami Kripacharya, Swami Baldevanand, Swami Shivjyotishanand, Mahant Shivdas Ji Rudkali, Swami Premdas Ji Maharaj, Ravidas Ji Maharaj, Surendranand Ji Maharaj, Raghuvar Das Ji Maharaj, Shivdas Ji Maharaj, Mahesh Anand Ji Maharaj, and other saints. Also present were enlightened women and people from the Bishnoi community of Balotra, Barmer, Nagaur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Phalodi, Jalore, and Sri Ganganagar districts.
